I use recycled or reclaimed VINTAGE furs from the late 1800s through the 1950s.  Times have changed considerably.  We live in a day and age of new technologies and space age fabrics to keep us warm and dry.  However, back in the 1800 and early 1900s ~ fur was how people kept warm!  Believe me, when the snows blew, they were thankful to be bundled in their furs....and I have to say, if I'd lived back then, I would have been reaching for a fur coat too.

Today we live in a time and age when we don't need furs.  The new fabrics assure us the warmth and waterproofing we need.  Our social lives have changed considerably too.  Back then people would get together with friends and neighbors (travelling long distances via horse and buggy, braving the elements).  There would be social gatherings, balls, and dances to show off their fineries and furs.  Today we have nothing like that in our society.  We live in a world surrounded by computers and virtual experiences.  When we get together, more often than not we tend to dress down.  There simply is no place to show off fine furs. 

Above all, I'm happiest that my bears have given the fur coat a "new lease on life".  Rather than being destined for the landfill, these wonderful coats can be preserved, and brought back to life as a loving, beautiful teddy bear.
