I have a new mommy!!!!
What's in a name.... And what in the world is a "Figwort"?? "Figwort" is a plant that has strongly heartshaped leaves. The name intrigued me, and when I looked it up, the idea for "Figwort" and his heartshaped footpads popped into my head. I sketched him down... did he live up to it? No. He actually was better than I'd imagined! You would not believe how incredibly sweet and gentle this little bear is til you see him in the fur.

"Figwort" is the last of a sumptious cafe au lait muskrat coat. The fur is so downy soft, you can sit holding "Figwort" for hours. And he rather enjoys that!
From the top of his fluffy head to the bottom of his detailed tootsies, "Figwort" is 10". But truth be told, its hard standing and he much prefers being able to sit and show off his heartshaped pads. Sitting he's 7 1/2" tall.
And lets talk about those fabulous ears!!! "Figwort" has fox for his lucious inner ears and undertail. It frames his adorable, handscissored face and really brings out his personality. He has a tan ultrasuede nose and German handblown glass eyes. The handscissoring for his face took me three whole days.

Showing off his adorable fluffy tail. The flash is a bit strong in this pic and the bottom one. His fur is an apricot colour, but this light shows a bit harshly. If you look really hard, you can also see the pawpad detailing done to "Figworts" pawpads. All of his pawpads are cream ultrasuede. Then I appliqued tan ultrasued on his pawpads to create the pads themselves and the adorable poofy tootsies. I used a light pink upholstery fabric to create his heartshaped pawpads...."Figwort's signature.
The applique and trapunto techniques are fiddly and time consuming, but very well worth it in the end! "Figwort" has been carefully hand stitched and is double sewn and properly lined for a lifetime of joy. He is five way jointed with hardboard locknut joints, meaning he has a wide variety of poses available.

Will you take me home?? I promise I'm a good boy...
